The DII baseball Power 10 rankings look pretty similar this week as last year's top two teams 鈥 Tampa and Angelo State 鈥 have cemented themselves in a race toward Cary, North Carolina once again. There was a big upset as Florida Southern fell to Lynn, and that changed the rankings slightly, but all the familiar faces remain.

Remember, the Power 10 rankings are not a simple equation based solely on metrics, nor is it voted upon by a body of people in the game. It is a combination of both, weighing what is happening on the field with what is happening on paper. Your weekly disclaimer: To rank DII baseball teams, you have to look beyond wins and losses 鈥 DII college baseball season is the longest of any sport. It ends after softball and spans five months, with most teams playing four to five games a week. Expecting a team to sweep every weekend is simply irrational.
The DII baseball Power 10 rankings (Week ending April 20)
No. 1 (tied) Angelo State, Tampa | Previous: 1 (tied)
Nothing changes at the top. The biggest change for the Rams is that, per Inkblot Sports, they are the No. 1 team in the South Central metrically speaking. Angelo State was already performing on the field as the team to beat in the South Central, and now it has the selection committee metrics to back it up for the bracket. This weekend, the Rams swept Eastern New Mexico State, and DII's top run-scoring offense was at it again, scoring 18, 13, and 15 runs in three of their four wins. On the season the Rams score 11.2 runs per game, so you best bring your aces to try and contain this lineup.
Tampa, at 35-6, has the best selection metrics in DII baseball, and each weekend, the Spartans seem to separate themselves even further. They have the top RPI and KPI against the second toughest schedule in the division, and once again, have one of the top pitching staffs with a top-5 ERA (3.48) and top-10 WHIP. After this past weekend's sweep of Florida Tech, they have won 11 in a row.
No. 3 Central Missouri | Previous: No. 3. It was a clean sweep for the Mules this week, going 4-0 with a big weekend sweep of Missouri Southern. They scored double-digit runs in every game and seem to really be clicking right now. The Mules have the top RPI in the Central Region, a top-10 KPI and have played the 30th toughest SoS, so once again, they are a legit threat for Cary.
No. 4 North Greenville| Previous: No. 4. Sure, the Trailblazers saw their 16-game winning streak come to a halt on Sunday; however, it doesn't change things one bit. The Southeast Region has six teams in several of the national top 25 polls, and probably another two or three that could land in the top 30. To be the top team in this region means one thing 鈥 you are really good at baseball. They have scored the second most runs in DII baseball (453) and have a top-25 batting average (.327), so this offense is clicking. They have a big midweek matchup against North Georgia before they close their regular season this coming weekend.
No. 5 Millersville| Previous: 6. The Marauders, who have now won six in a row, check every box for a championship-caliber resume. They have the top RPI and KPI in a very deep Atlantic Region, they have lost just one weekend series all year, are dominant against teams with winning records, and they have a pair of aces that can take command in a short series. However, they also have top 25 West Chester and East Stroudsburg to close the season, so for the Marauders, the playoffs have begun.
No. 6 Minnesota State| Previous: No. 7. The Mavericks had another undefeated week, sweeping Minnesota Crookston this weekend. It wasn't even close, winning the three-game series by outscoring its NSIC foe 35-5. The Mavericks have played one of the weaker SoS in the top 25, so it will be interesting to see how they perform come tournament time. Still, with Nathan Culley and Louis Magers in the rotation, this team is going to be a tough out come May.
No. 7 UT Tyler| Previous: No. 8. The Patriots scored 61 runs this weekend in yet another sweep, extending their winning streak to 10 games. This isn't simply one of the best teams in the South Central, but one of the top teams in DII baseball from first pitch to present day. Drew Schmidt has been the breakout star of 2025. He is amid his third double-digit-game hitting streak of the season, currently at 10 games... nine of which have been multi-hit games.
No. 8 Lenoir-Rhyne| Previous: 9. The Bears suffered a brutal midweek loss to Barton but swept Tusculum this weekend to get back on track. They are super close to Catawba in selection metrics, but have the advantage in head-to-head for now, with another game remaining against the Indians. This team can flat out hit, with six players with at least 10 doubles and three players with at least 16 home runs.
No. 9 Catawba| Previous: First five out. Catawba had a tremendous week, taking a midweek matchup from UNC Pembroke and the weekend series from Carson-Newman 鈥 both of which would be in the tournament if the bracket was selected today. Catawba slipped out of the top 10 last week, but it seems to be a blip on the radar. Last year's national semifinalists look like they are going to be a handful in May.
No. 10 (tied) Florida Southern, Young Harris | Previous: First five out and 5, respectively. Florida Southern is sticking in the top 10, but know that Delta State and Colorado Mesa were knocking on the door. The Mocs were swept by Lynn (who improved its postseason chances greatly with the stunning upset), but their overall resume remains impressive. The Mountain Lions continue to stay hot, winners of their last four and 10 of their last 11. As discussed last week, it's not simply the wins, but the quality of them, having wins over Southeast Region teams in the tournament conversation, especially Carson-Newman who they may battle for the No. 4 seed come tourney time. They have a nice blend of contact hitters and power bats with three weekend starters that have been consistent, especially of late.
First five out (in alphabetical order)
- Colorado Mesa. Though cut short, that was a huge series win over Regis (CO) this weekend. That pretty much locks up the RMAC regular-season title.
- Delta State. The Statesmen have had a tough month but won another weekend series to stay atop the GSC. They still have a top 15 KPI and are likely the No. 2 seed in the South Region.
- North Georgia. The Nighthawks have lost just one weekend series this season, and none at home. Andrews Opata and Phillip Ard are two player-of-the-year candidates to watch.
- Pittsburg State. The Gorillas actually lost a baseball game. They have still won 15 of their last 16 and have a good chance to win out heading into the MIAA tournament.
- Westmont. It is surprising to me that the Warriors are the No. 2 spot in Inkblot Sports West Region rankings, but I still think they are the team to beat. Their SoS has gone down a tad playing the PacWest teams, but they still have been impressive against teams with winning records.
