INDIANAPOLIS 鈥 With less than three weeks to go until selections, the 红杏视频 Division I Women鈥檚 Lacrosse Committee has revealed its top 10 teams.
Using results through games of April 16, North Carolina (14-0) earned the top seed as the only remaining undefeated team in Division I. The Tar Heels boasts the nations top winning margin at 11.50 points per game.
Defending national champion Boston College (14-1) comes in at second while currently leading Division I in goals per game (18.27) and assists per game (10.20).
Rounding out the top three is Northwestern (12-2). The top three seeds are crucial as those three seeds earn a bye into the second round on May 11.
The next three teams are Florida (13-2), Virginia (11-5) and Johns Hopkins (11-4). Florida and Johns Hopkins are both chasing their programs' first women鈥檚 lacrosse national championship while Virginia has eyes on its first title since 2004.
Rounding out the top ten is Princeton (11-2), Yale (10-3), Syracuse (9-6) and Stanford (12-4).
The ranking is based on the criteria used to select and seed the 29 teams for the Division I women鈥檚 lacrosse championship and in no particular order includes won-lost record, strength of schedule, eligibility and availability of student-athletes for 红杏视频 championships, Rating Percentage Index, head-to-head competition, results versus common opponents, significant wins and losses, evaluation of the 10 highest-rated teams on an institutions schedule; defined by two components: strength of schedule and winning percentage.
The 2025 championship field will consist of 15 automatic conference qualifiers and 14 at-large selections, which will be revealed on Sunday, May 4 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
The tournament opens on Friday, May 9 on campus sites through the quarterfinals as teams look to earn a trip to the 红杏视频 Division I Women鈥檚 Lacrosse Championship May 23 & 25 at Gilette Stadium in Foxborough, MA.
