Jackson State wins the 2024 Celebration Bowl
Third Times the charm! Jackson State defeated South Carolina State in its third Celebration Bowl appearance for its first win in program history. The Tiger won 28-7 after jumping out to a 21-0 lead. Quarterback Jacobian Morgan and defensive lineman Jeremiah Williams were named Offensive and Defensive MVPs.

Jackson State wins SWAC Championship, advances to Celebration Bowl
Jackson State defeated Southern 41-13 to win the 2024 SWAC Championship Game. The Tigers used a 17-point third quarter to pull away from a 10-10 halftime tie and never look back. Click or tap here for stats from the game.
Jackson State will represent the SWAC in the Celebration Bowl, facing MEAC champion South Carolina State.
Jackson State is now tied with Southern for the 2nd-most SWAC FB titles all-time with 20. Grambling State leads with 25.

The 2024 HBCU football season is almost finished, but talented players shined throughout the FCS season. A select group of players stood out among their peers thanks to on-field performances. Here are the top players, by position, from the 2024 HBCU football season.
FCS HBCU coaching update
Two more FCS HBCU football head coaches were let go today, December 4, 2024. North Carolina A&T fired coach Vincent Brown and Mississippi Valley State fired Kendrick Wade.
Brown had back-to-back one win seasons, finishing 2-21 during his time with the Aggies, failing to win a CAA game. Wade also finished with one win this season, similarly finishing with a 2-21 record.

One thing to know about Thanksgiving HBCU games
The FCS regular season may have ended for most teams, but three HBCU football teams still have one more regular season game to play over Thanksgiving weekend. Here's one thing you should know about each game.
Norfolk State fires coach
Norfolk State fired head coach Dawson Odums. McDowell was the coach of the Spartans since 2021 and went 15-30 during his four seasons, finishing 4-8 in 2024.
Prairie View lets go of coach
Prairie View A&M will not renew head coach Bubba McDowell's contract. McDowell was the coach of the Panthers since 2022 and went 17-18 during his three seasons, finishing 5-7 in 2024.
Tennessee State makes the FCS playoffs
Tennessee State made the 2024 FCS playoffs as an at-large team. The Tigers make the postseason for the first time in the Eddie George era and for the first time since 2013. Tennessee State has an all-time record of 3-6 in the FCS playoffs.
